Conceptual Holiday Project: MixMedia Exploration (5–6 hours)
This special holiday program offers a deep dive into expressive, experimental mixed-media techniques.
Over the course of 5–6 hours, students will create bold, textured, and imaginative works of art using materials such as sand, modeling paste, acrylic paint, metallic leaf (gold and bronze), and more.
Each project invites students to explore sophisticated themes through material, texture, and form — blurring the line between fine art and visual storytelling.

Project 1: “Earth and Cosmos”
Theme: Duality of the physical and the metaphysical
In this abstract composition, the canvas is divided into two expressive realms. The lower half symbolizes the physical, material world — earth, sand, structure, time — while the upper section reflects the ethereal and cosmic, rich in color, space, and symbolism.
The two zones are visually and conceptually linked by flowing golden elements, evoking a conversation between body and spirit, matter and imagination.
Materials Used:
- Textured modeling paste for structure and relief
- Natural sand for erosion-like texture
- Acrylic paint for expressive layering and transparency
- Gold and bronze leaf to highlight transitions and metaphysical elements
Artistic Focus:
- Composition and contrast
- Visual storytelling through material
- Symbolism and abstraction
Conceptual Goal:
To explore the connection between the grounded and the infinite — Earth as origin, Cosmos as dream — in a work that is both tactile and imaginative.
Date: April 19, 24, and 26, 2025
Time: 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
$44 per class
GST included
*The cost of the lessons does not
include the price of the canvas.

Project 2: “ Archaeology of the Future ”
Theme: Imagining a lost civilization
This project invites students to imagine they have discovered an artifact from a future civilization — a visual relic rich in symbolism, materials, and unknown meaning.
The final piece resembles a mysterious cultural remnant, embedded with traces of time, erosion, and value. With embedded objects, carved shapes, rough textures, and weathered surfaces, students create their own future mythology.
Materials Used:
- Textured paste for building forms and relief
- Sand and dry pigments for erosion and wear
- Acrylic paint to create patinas, oxidations, and vibrant color interplay
- Metallic leaf for elements of cultural or symbolic value
- Optional embedded objects or geometric elements for depth
Artistic Focus:
- Texture-building techniques
- Color oxidation and layering
- Conceptual storytelling through abstraction
